OCPS spring break 2027 is March 15-19, with March 12 also off. Camps, the Lucky Charm 5K, parks, the new library and what was on last year.

Last checked Oct. 8, 2026. This page is updated each year at the same address. School dates come from the OCPS 2026-27 calendar, camp details from Orange County Parks and Recreation’s youth programs manual and events from each organizer’s own page.

Orange County Public Schools’ spring break is Monday, March 15, to Friday, March 19, 2027. Friday, March 12, is also a student holiday, so most Horizon West students are off for 10 days, from March 12 through March 21, and return Monday, March 22. Private schools and other districts set their own dates. Spring events are posted in late winter; below are the dates already out for 2027 and last year’s events, with the year marked.

Camps

Orange County Parks and Recreation runs Out-of-School Programs on days when school is not in session, including spring break, its parent manual says. Programs run 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., the first week is paid at enrollment, and the county sets rates by a child’s school-lunch status. The manual’s list of program sites does not include a Horizon West park, so call Parks and Recreation at 407-836-6200 for the nearest site.

Private camps, gyms and churches in Horizon West also run spring break programs; we list them when they publish dates and prices on their own sites.

Things to do

  • Parks: six Orange County parks in Horizon West, including the 215-acre Horizon West Regional Park and its inclusive playground. Hours and addresses are on our parks and trails guide.
  • Library: the Horizon West Branch, 4657 Hamlin Groves Trail, opens Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, with a StoryWalk and outdoor musical instruments in its garden, the Orange County Library System says.
  • Tibet-Butler Preserve, 8777 Winter Garden-Vineland Road: 438 acres with hiking trails, open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. No bikes or pets.
  • Lake Louisa State Park, 7305 U.S. Highway 27, Clermont: a 4,500-acre state park with lakes and trails; its activity provider books kayak and bike rentals and trail rides on its booking site.
  • Rainy days: our kids’ activities guide lists indoor play and museums.

Kids’ races start at 9:30 a.m. Registration is $35 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K before Feb. 27, the race page says.

Last year (2026): spring events near Horizon West included:

We will add 2027 dates as the organizers post them.

What is open

Spring break is a school holiday only. OCPS district offices stay open while schools are closed, the district calendar says, and Orange County changes trash pickup only for Thanksgiving and Christmas, its holiday collection page says.

What this means for you

  • Book camps early; county programs require payment in advance.
  • Try the new Horizon West Branch library and Horizon West Regional Park in one trip: they share Hamlin Groves Trail.
  • Check back in February for spring break events in Horizon West.
