Horizon West is built for driving. Its spine is State Road 429, the toll road that links the area to Interstate 4 to the south and Florida’s Turnpike to the north. County roads such as Avalon Road (County Road 545), Ficquette Road, Reams Road and Seidel Road carry local traffic, and several are being widened. For live conditions, use FL511 or dial 511. The main roads

State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway). A Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) toll road that runs nearly 23 miles from U.S. 441 in Apopka south to Interstate 4 in Osceola County, giving west Orange and Osceola counties an alternative to I-4 and access to Florida’s Turnpike, CFX’s SR 429 page says. It opened in stages:

North of U.S. 441, SR 429 continues as the Wekiva Parkway, completed in 2024. CFX is designing a widening from four to six lanes between Schofield Road and Tilden Road; see our road construction page.

Florida’s Turnpike meets SR 429 at exit 267 near Winter Garden. Interstate 4 is reached at SR 429’s southern end in Osceola County. U.S. 192 crosses SR 429 to the south.

County roads. Avalon Road (County Road 545), Ficquette Road, Reams Road, Seidel Road, Tiny Road, Flemings Road and New Independence Parkway are Orange County roads. Ficquette Road, Flemings Road and New Independence Parkway projects are under way or starting; Reams Road and Avalon Road are next.

Buses

LYNX, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, runs the region’s buses. In its December 2024 service changes, LYNX added Link 705, which runs along West Colonial Drive in Winter Garden between the West Oaks Mall SuperStop and Park Avenue every 60 minutes, Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 9:40 p.m. LYNX also runs NeighborLink 812, a Winter Garden service. The airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO), run by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, is the region’s main airport. Its Intermodal Terminal also serves Brightline trains. Check FL511 for road conditions before you leave for a flight.

Walking and biking

  • Multiuse paths are being added along Flemings Road, New Independence Parkway and Ficquette Road as they are rebuilt, Orange County says.
  • The county’s Horizon West Trails Study plans a trail network linking the villages.
  • Horizon West Regional Park, 4715 Hamlin Groves Trail, has bike and equestrian trails.

Parking

Horizon West has no city parking rules or meters; parking is set by each property, homeowners association or shopping center.

  • Hamlin: event organizers send visitors to the Cinépolis parking garage and street parking for Hamlin events.
  • Downtown Winter Garden: parking is always free, the City of Winter Garden says, in its three-level garage at 160 S. Boyd St., the 117-space lot at 37 N. Boyd St. and marked spaces on West Plant Street.
