When to go

With no county hours, the timing is up to each neighborhood. If yours has a homeowners association, it may post its own times or hold a community event; check its newsletter or portal. A few points to plan around:

  • Oct. 31 is a Saturday, so there is no school the next day.
  • Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. Clocks go back an hour after Halloween night, not before it.
  • A porch light on is the usual sign that a house is handing out candy.

Safety

  • Cross at corners and watch for drivers on the wider roads. Road work is listed on our road construction page.
  • Check treats before kids eat them.
  • Offender search: the Florida Department of Law Enforcement publishes the state’s sexual offender and predator registry with an address search.
