A 3,532-square-foot Shake Shack and 19 EV charging spaces are planned for Hamlin, north of New Independence Parkway. County reviewers take it up Wednesday.
A Shake Shack is planned for Hamlin, Horizon West’s town center. The plans also add 19 electric vehicle charging spaces next door.
Orange County’s Development Review Committee takes up the plan at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4. The item is on the committee’s Nov. 4 agenda as case CDR-26-02-034.
What is planned
The county staff report in the agenda packet describes the request. It covers 1.70 acres of a 6.81-acre development plan in Hamlin’s commercial area. The plan includes:
- a 3,532-square-foot Shake Shack restaurant, labeled Building E, on Lot 2-G
- electric vehicle charging infrastructure with 19 EV parking spaces on Lot 2-C
The site is north of New Independence Parkway and west of Hamlin Groves Trail. The staff report says both lots are undeveloped and sit inside an existing shopping center. The plan sheets call the area the northwest quadrant of Hamlin Town Center. Revision notes on the sheets, dated July 1 and Sept. 21, label the additions as the “Shake Shack/Electrify America” sites.
The applicant is the engineering firm Kelly, Collins & Gentry. The owner is listed as Hamlin Retail Partners II LLC.
Where it stands
County reviewers have signed off. All county departments approved the plans received Oct. 8, the staff report said.
The report also notes:
- The county’s environmental, transportation planning and school staff found no issues.
- Orange County Utilities will provide water and sewer.
- No community meeting was required for this case.
- Pole signs and billboards are prohibited on the site.
Approval would let the project move on to construction plans. It does not set an opening date, and the agenda packet gives none.
Under the standard conditions in the report, the approval expires if construction plans are not submitted and approved within two years.
